Complete Kitchen Renovations in Moorabbin

A complete renovation takes the room back to bare walls and services, then rebuilds it around a layout that has been measured, drawn and priced before anything is removed. One managed scope: design, cabinetry, benchtops, splashback and finishing, handed back as a finished kitchen.

What a complete renovation covers

A complete renovation removes the existing kitchen entirely — cabinetry, benchtops, splashback and floor coverings inside the work zone — and rebuilds from the bare walls. Because the room is open, waste, water, gas and power positions can be relocated, so the layout is free to change rather than being inherited from whatever was there before.

That freedom is the difference from the lighter scopes. Kitchen Remodelling reworks an existing layout without a full rebuild, and a Kitchen Makeover keeps sound carcasses while doors, benchtops and splashbacks are replaced. A complete renovation is the right scope when the footprint itself is the problem: a doorway in the wrong wall, a bench you cannot work either side of, a fridge that blocks the only through-route, or a pantry that was never built.

Field label — readings

Older bayside stock rarely measures the way it looks.

What the measure reveals, and what design produces

Houses and units around Moorabbin, Highett and Bentleigh carry recognisable kitchen footprints and recognisable surprises. The measure records wall construction and whether a wall is loadbearing, ceiling height and bulkhead depth, window and door reveals, existing waste, gas and water positions, switchboard capacity, and how far the floor falls across the room. Those readings decide what a new layout can and cannot do before a line is drawn.

Kitchen Design then produces the documents the build runs on: a dimensioned plan and elevations, appliance and service positions, a cabinetry schedule, and confirmed selections for cabinets, benchtops and splashbacks. The quote is written against those documents, which is why the scope of a complete renovation is settled before demolition rather than argued during it.

Twelve stages, four groups

Nothing is ordered until the drawings are signed.
Group one — stages 01–04

Design

Consultation · Measure · Design · Quote

What the kitchen has to do, then the readings, then plan and elevations, then a written scope priced against them. Layout decisions close at the end of this group.

Group two — stage 05

Supply

Materials

Cabinetry goes into manufacture against the signed schedule, appliances are confirmed, stone slabs and tile are selected and held. Lead times sit here, deliberately, rather than inside the build.

Group three — stages 06–08

Build

Demolition · Preparation · Cabinetry

Strip-out and removal, walls and floor made good, services roughed in to the new plan, then carcasses and fronts installed, levelled and scribed to the room. The group closes with the cabinetry standing, ready for the surfaces to be measured against it.

Group four — stages 09–12

Finish

Benchtops · Splashback · Finishing · Handover

Benchtops are templated on the fitted cabinetry rather than on the drawing, then fabricated and installed. The splashback is measured once the benchtop is down. Final plumbing and electrical connections, trims and silicone, doors and drawers adjusted, clean, and a walk-through of the finished kitchen with care notes for each surface.

Questions of sequence

Most of them are really questions about when a decision closes.

Does everything have to be decided before demolition?

Layout, cabinetry, appliances and benchtop material do. Handles and grout colour can follow. Anything that changes a cabinet dimension or a service position has to be settled while the drawings are still open.

How disruptive is a full strip-out?

The kitchen is out of use from demolition until benchtop and splashback are in. Work stays contained to the kitchen zone with protection to adjoining floors; a temporary bench and fridge elsewhere in the house makes the period workable.

Can the layout really change?

With the walls open, waste, water and power can be relocated, so an island, a new pantry run or a different sink position are all on the table. Loadbearing walls and existing waste depth set the limits — which is exactly why they are recorded at the measure.

Do I need the full scope?

If the carcasses are sound and only the surfaces are tired, a makeover may give you what you want. If the footprint fights you daily, rebuilding from the walls is the only scope that resolves it. Compact rooms are handled through Small Kitchen Renovations.
